    I heard about taking milk thistle to help detox your liver of any unwanted toxins, i had to much estrogen inside my body which cause me to have a lump behind my nipple my friend told me about this product and after two weeks of taking them the lump has dramatically reduced in size. Best milk thistle by far. Cheaper then holland & barret.

    It has been a bad habit of mine in the last 15 years to drink excessive amounts of alcohol without taking care of myself and I am now paying the price for this negligence. I have experienced ill health recently so a friend of mine thought it would be a good idea for me to try the milk thistle and to be honest, it really has made a difference to me so I'm sure it will for others.

    It occurred to me that I was neglecting the health of my liver at the ripe old age of 51 and was becoming increasingly concerned it would be getting worse so I invested some time in researching what I could do to help myself and heard from a friend, in the local pub ironically, that milk thistle would be the best thing for me to take and I followed his advice and now here I am reaping the benefits.

    I use a range of supplements from Simply Supplements, but primarily I use Milk Thistle to try to minimise liver damage from prescription medications. So far as I can tell, it is working.     I have been using simply supplements for several years.Due to enormous pressure of work, i began to drink heavily. Just to cope. The shape of my chest changed and it was apparently due to hormonal changes. I have been buying milk thistle and my normal shape has returned.    I understand that milk thistle has been banned by the EU, due to other companies not providing what they describe. I have stocked a good deal of this product, even though i do not need it any more. I also buy glucosamine 1000 mg every day. Definitely has made a difference for my left knee. bad accident on a motor bike in 1977. Completely smashed my lower leg. I was told that i would always have a weakness. Skegness is a small place and i have recommended your site to so many people. So much cheaper than the local chain businesses. There are very few sites that i feel comfortable with. You are one of the few that i have confidence with.

    Q: So, just to confirm, I am taking 54mg of milk thistle per day and not 3000mg ? If the recommended dose is around 200mg, then how can these be super strength ?

    Our Milk Thistle tablets contain Milk Thistle Herb Extract 60mg (50:1) equivalent to 3000mg (54mg Silymarin). We recommend taking 1 tablet per day, and unfortunately we cannot comment on another companies RDA.

     As everyone is different, and supplements are not prescription medications, some people will notice benefits sooner than others. We cannot advise specifically how long it would take for you to notice a difference; however we generally advise anything up to 6 weeks for supplements to take effect.

    Q: My current Milk thistle tablets are 200mg Silmarin but the price is now prohibitive. 54mg seems very low . Is this adequate or is it possible to take 2 tablets to bring the level up to that provided by most companies.

     The Milk Thistle Herb Extract is 60mg, and of this 54mg is Silymarin. The RDA is 1 tablet daily.

    We do recommend taking Milk Thistle tablets for liver function and immune system, therefore this may be beneficial for her. However, we would strongly advise consulting a doctor beforehand.

    Q: I have a 13 year old springer Spaniel who is very fit apart from the fact that he is drinking more water than he should.Blood tests show that there is a problem with his liver and the vet has suggested that I should try milk thistle but they are unable to suggest the dosage perhaps you could help.
     
    A:

     Milk thistle supplements list the appropriate human dose on the label. An easy way to convert the dosage for your dog is to take your dog's weight, consider it a percent, and multiply the recommended dosage by that percent. For example, if your dog weighs 20 pounds then you would give your dog 20 percent of the recommended human dosage. Our recommended daily dose for human consumption is equivalent to 54mg of Silymarin. Dogs that are very ill with liver disease may take a higher dosage. Please consult your veterinarian.

    Q: I have gallstones which as long as I have a healthy diet do not cause me any problems. The surgeon wants to remove my gall bladder but I am undecided and I understand that long term milk thistle therapy would help dislove and keep them under control. Is this right or am I looking in the wrong direction as I have only had two mild attacks in 10 years and there is only a 60% chance that an operation will cure without any side effects.

    We would advise that Milk Thistle may be of benefit however, as we are not medically trained, we would be hesitant to recommend taking this in place of prescription medicine or against a doctor’s recommendation. Therefore, we would suggest consulting your GP.

    but noticed recently I have been drinking a bit more than I did couple of months ago will this Milk Thistle still help my liver by keeping the liver count level ?

     Silymarin found in Milk Thistle is known to protect liver cells from poisonous effects of excess alcohol and other toxins. We suggest that you carry on taking Milk thistle whilst making sure you do not go over the Safe limits of alcohol intake.

    It may be beneficial for you to check if the Milk Thistle that you are currently taking is 174mg extract, as our product is 60mg herb extract equivalent to 3000mg.

     

    We are not aware of any side effects from taking this product, however if you have any concerns we would advise that you consult your GP.

    With regards to taking different supplements together, one on the many benefits of natural herbal medicines is the safety parameters when mixing several vitamins, minerals and nutrients.     Q: I am using milk thistle on my 3 dogs..I had a dog who died from cancer of the liver and I sought out a vet who studied alternative medicine. I was told by own vet(male) that if I used her he would not treat my dog. The utcome is that after the vets treatment she died within a few days. I believe that if I had used the alternative method she would have lived...Am I doing right by giving my dogs (3) milk thistle please?
