Approximately 75% of women experiencing the menopause will regularly suffer from hot flashes.
Black Cohosh, a shrub-like plant native to North America, contains high amounts of Isoflavones, the compounds which are naturally present in plants. Whilst there are several sources of Isoflavones Black Cohosh is one of the most popular, particularly amongst our female customers. As well as containing Isoflavones, Black Cohosh contains several other ingredients including Triterpene Glycosides, fatty acids and starches.
This best-selling supplement is taken to support women’s health and may help to reduce the frequency and severity of symptoms caused by imbalances.

|---|---|
| A: | This product is something that we recommend for helping with the symptoms caused by the menopause, therefore you may well find it beneficial. As supplements work in different ways for different people, we cannot guarantee the effects. However it is something that we would recommend.

| Q: | I am 51yrs old & have been having hot flushes for the past 4 weeks, they are driving me mad as mostly occur at night & the lack of sleep is not good! My periods stopped 2yrs ago after an operation for removal of womb lining due to heavy periods. Would this supplement be good for me? |
|---|---|
| A: | Black Cohosh contains high amounts of Isoflavones, which can be beneficial for symptoms caused by hormonal imbalance such as hot flushes. This is a very popular product in our womens health range, and it does sound as though it would benefit you. Obviously, if you are taking prescription medicine for these symptoms, we would advise that you consult your GP beforehand. |
| Q: | My friends told me about Black Cohosh as I suffer hot flushes. Is it ok for me to take as I am on beta blockers propranolol? |
|---|---|
| A: | It is always best advised to check with your GP or Pharmacist when you are on perscribed medication as some supplements may hinder the medication. |
| Q: | I have tried several herbal supplements for the menopause, but each time I have had trouble with fluid retention which I do not normally suffer from. Have you had any reports of this? |
|---|---|
| A: | We have had no other reports of this - but different supplements can affect people in many different ways. It is just a matter of trial and error with finding what works best for you! |
| Q: | How many Black cohosh 200mg should i take per day? |
|---|---|
| A: | We advise to take between 1 and 4 a day. |

|---|---|
| A: | We would always recommend using the stated daily allowance on the tub and no more. Although we are aware that some people may exceed these we would not recommend this. |
| Q: | Are there any side effects? |
|---|---|
| A: | Supplements perform differently from person to person and therefore the extent of side effects may vary. This can be due to a number of individual dynamics ranging from consistency of use to your age, weight and other medication that you may be taking. Nonetheless, one of the many benefits of natural herbal medicines is the safety parameters and minimal side effects associated with their use. We must inform you that at Simply Supplements we are not medically trained and therefore we respectfully advise that if you are taking any prescription medication, have a medical condition or you have specific concerns about the suitability of any of our supplements, you should consult your GP or Pharmacist.
