Vitamin B12 is one of the most chemically complex of all the vitamins because it is involved in the metabolism of every cell in the body. Healthy levels of B12 are required for the production of red blood cells and cell division, and the maintenance of neurological and psychological functions. Many people take vitamin B12 supplements to regulate mood, boost energy levels, or lower homocysteine levels, high levels of which can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline.
Because vitamin B12 commonly occurs in animal-based foods, such as red meat and dairy, vegetarians often benefit from a supplement to cover any shortfall in dietary intake. This supplement is also popular with consumers over the age of 50 years old; as the body ages it produces less hydrochloric acid which reduces the stomachs ability to break down and absorb vitamin B12. Our high-strength vitamin B12 tablets contain a readily bioavailable source of this essential vitamin and have been specifically formulated to provide the strength recommended by healthcare officials.
