Q: Is Cod Liver Oil 550Mg for cats & dogs also OK for people to take?
A: The main difference between the Cod Liver Oil for the Cats and Dogs and the Cod Liver Oil for humans is the manufacturing process; it is possible that because of this you would not feel the benefit of the Cod Liver Oil for pets if you were using this for humans. If you wish to use the same strength of Cod Liver Oil for humans, please see our product code S402.

Q: Is it ok to give my dog cod liver oil and glucosamine and chondroitin?
A: Our Cod Liver Oil and Glucosamine & Chondroitin for pets can be taken together, but unfortunately, as we are not medically trained, we do suggest that you seek advice from your vet, prior to giving your dog any supplements.

I have a lactating French bulldog who is not eating as much as she should (fussy eater). Can you recommend any supplements I can give here?

We would certainly recommend Cod Liver Oil for Cats & Dogs. In order to ensure she receives a balanced diet, you may also find it beneficial to feed her Multivitamins for Cats and Dogs alongside this. Please click HERE to view SimplyPets Multivitamins.

Q: Jed my border collie is taking loxicom perscribed by vet,. Would it help to give him cod liver oil and glucosamine, chondroitin & vitamin c tablets? He weighs 27kg. How many of each would he need a day? Also could u tell me if u are going to release a fibre provider supplement to help reduce anal glands filling up as this has been recommended for bonnie my lab.

As Jed weighs 27kgs we would advise that he takes 2 capsules of Cod Liver Oil 550mg per day. He could also take 3 daily tablets of our Glucosamine, Chondroitin & Vitamin C tablets alongside this. Combined, these supplements will help to improve the condition of his joints. However, if he is already taking prescribed medicine from the vet, we would also advise that you consult your vet to ensure that there are no interactions.

At present, we have no plans to supply a fibre provider supplement, however our Simply Pets range is always expanding and your recommendation has been passed on to the relevant department.

Q: i have one dog he is 5 kilos can he have 550mg of the cod liver oil tablets or is it too strong?

For small breeds we would recommend 1 capsule per day. Significantly higher levels may cause stomach upsets.

  • 25th July 2010 - Mrs M Stansfield
Q: In your May brochure you have in simply pets 320mg cod liver oil capsules this is what my small jack russell is on at the moment, will the 550mg be too strong for her. I cannot find that you do the 320mg capsules. Would I still give her one capsule a day.

Our formula has recently been increased to a 550mg strength. 1 capsule is perfectly safe for smaller breeds such as jack russels to take on a daily basis. If you have any concerns, we would advise that you seek medical advice from your local vet.

We have a crossbreed and crossbreeds often suffer with joints, our little puppydog has been on them for around a year now and he doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. His coat is nice and shiny, and a lot easier to brush now. He does like to chew them but if he didn't they are in a nice capsules that would go straight down or you can pierced the capsules and put it in with thier food which a nice lady on the phone told me. Greatly impressed with simply supplements.

    For our dog
Jacky Stevens , Bury St Edmunds
Our dog, a border collie/cocker spaniel has been taking this once a day since she was a puppy because we had been told that it is good for the joints of border collies. She is now 2 1/2 years old. Everywhere she goes people comment on her lovely shiny coat! And - as far as we know her joints are fine too!

My cat won't eat fish or cat food with fish in. Your C.L.O has been great and can put it in his food without him noticing. It's reasonably priced and can now be sure that he is getting the benefits from fish oils.

My 18yr old cats back legs gave way badly
    Ms Lee Grieve , Worksop
My 18yr old cat's back legs gave way badly and she was falling over and could not walk. I was terrified and heartbroken. I thought, I take cod liver oil, how about my Amber. I found simply supplements cod liver oil for cat's and dog's and sent for some. She has been on them for 38days and soon after giving her them she could walk without falling over, a bit wobbly occasionally, infact she is more her self as she RUNS in the house from outside a bit wobbly but I mean RUNS. I just say to her when she gets over confident "STEADY" and she knows what I mean and slows down. She can get upstairs now, slowly but she can do it. I am so pleased with the outcome, she can also pull herself up on my very high bed. I would like to mention because the 550mg capsule is so big for a cat, I get a thin pointed steak knife and stick it in the seam of the capsule, this way slits it without getting messy, then I squeeze it at the front of her food. She goes straight for that bit first, it is as if she knows. I phoned simply supplements to ask them a question and they were lovely and very helpful, and i felt confident with their answer. PLEASE TRY THEM THEY DO WORK for stiff and painful joints and arthritic joints. I also keep her warm. This cold weather as we know, upsets painful joints. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SIMPLY SUPPLEMENTS. :)

I love your products for pets, they are in need every bit as much as their humans, particularly the cod liver oil and the Glucosamine. I wouldn't want to be without them for myself and my dear dog.

Great variety of supplements for pets
    Robin Cooper , Edinburgh
I am really impressed with the variety of supplements that is on offer for pets. I was round my parents house the other day and noticed your brochure, I decided to take it home and have a proper look at it. I have been giving my labrador your cod liver oil capsules for about 3 weeks now and he is more active than before. To begin with we tried getting him to swallow them, but that wasnt very successful! then we tried piercing them and adding to his food but that was too messy! In the end we have just been hiding them in his dog meat and they go down great! Couldnt be happier!

    Adventures in the garden!
Pamela Jones, Mitsy, Tinks & Paws , Northumberland
I have been giving my cats these cod liver oil capsules as well as glucosamine. They are really old and are suffering from pains in the joints resulting in them being less mobile. It was breaking my heart to see them in such a sorry state that I went to my local vets and he suggested adding supplements to their diets. It really has made a difference! They are much happier now they can go on adventures in the garden again than being stuck indoors

    Going on long walks again
    Stacey Spencer , Nottingham
Betsy, my dog is getting old and suffering from the effects. I was advised by a friend to try using a supplement in her diet as she does fror hers. At first it sounded strange but i guess they work in the same way supplements do for humans!  Betsy is more active than she was and loves going on walks again. It is also great that cod liver oil offers benefits to her heart as well.
