Green Tea and EGCG
Green tea is taken from the camellia sinensis plant. The leaves contain potent levels of several types of polyphenols, in particular flavonoids. The most potent flavonoids in green tea include the catechin epigallocatechingallate (EGCG). This is believed to help neutralise free-radicals and protect DNA, vital organs and tissues throughout the body.
The health benefits of green tea are deep and wide ranging. Much of the scientific research surrounding green tea has focused on the role EGCG may play in the prevention of heart disease, cognitive decline and certain cancers.
How can green tea help me?
The flavonoid compounds found in green tea may help to protect the heart by preserving the delicate cells that line blood vessels. This enhances circulation and the transportation of nutrients around the body. Green tea is also believed to improve the ratio of HDL ‘good’ cholesterol to LDL ‘bad’ cholesterol in the blood.
Recent media coverage hailed green tea as ‘the elixir of life’ in response to findings from clinical trials that suggest green tea can increase life expectancy. Other findings show that green tea may support weight loss as part of a calorie controlled diet.
A natural boost for health
The popularity of green tea has grown over recent years, with many people choosing it as a healthful alternative to normal tea. To create black tea, the leaves undergo an oxidation process, which destroys many of the nutrients within the leaves. Because green tea leaves are not subjected to oxidation, they retain their high polyphenol content. In fact, our Green Tea 850mg contains 40% polyphenols, compared to as little as 3% in standard black teas.
Our Super Strength Green Tea 850mg is exclusively available in EasyGest capsules that have been carefully formulated for fast and efficient digestion into the body. Each extract provides 127.5mg of catechins, which are standardised to guarantee a minimum 85mg of EGCG.

Is green tea more effective in supplement form than in tea form? Can you take both together?
Our 850mg tablets contain highly concentrated extracts of green tea. You would need to drink around 5 to 6 cups of green tea to receive the same benefits, which some consumers find to be inconvenient.
However, many customers enjoy the soothing properties herbal teas can offer, and so choose to take the tea and tablets in combination.
|Q:||I suffer from severe M.E and I am unable to exercise, so as you can imagine I am piling the weight on. I have heard a lot about these capsules but just wondering would they do anything for me with me not being able to exercise or is there anything else you think maybe better for me|
There is limited research examining the link between ME and Green Tea supplements, so I would advise you to consult with your GP prior to use. Although we do recommend that weight loss supplements produce the best results when taken alongside regular exercise, often a healthy diet and some light exercise (such as walking) is enough to gain the benefits of the products.
|Q:||Would you know of any reason Not to add these to a weight loss stack of acai berries and cla 1000 to help with metabolising fat and increasing the overall metabolic rate?|
Providing that you do not exceed the individual recommended dosages of any of these products, there should be no harm in taking Green Tea, Acai Berry and CLA together.
|Q:||Will simplysupplements be getting these tablets in 1500mg?|
We currently do not have any plans to sell this product in a higher strength, however this may change in the future.
|Q:||Are the capsules gelatine based?|
Yes, our Green Tea 850mg capsules are gelatin based.
Alternatively, you may want to consider our SlendaMAX supplement, which contains a high-strength combination of Green Tea, Acai Berry and Apple Cider Vinegar. SlendaMAX is suitable for vegetarians and is gelatin-free. Please click HERE to view.

Each capsule provides 127.5mg of catechin content.
|Q:||Due to the low levels of caffiene is it ok to take before bed ?
